The Rotary Club of Eugene (Club) shows up and is here for the long term. The Club has been showing up every month (third Wednesday, 6:00 – 8:30 pm) for decades to assist Food for Lane County in their Food Rescue Express (FREX) kitchen. Club members work side by side to inspect, sort and repackage food ‘rescued’ from local organizations. These food sources include supermarkets, food producers and manufacturers, restaurants, catering businesses, University of Oregon cafeterias and other venues serving food. The work ranges from rescuing hundreds of extra hot dogs prepared at Autzen Stadium during a football game to repackaging thousands of misprinted tea bags from a local producer to bagging a ton or two of donated oats from a grower.  If there is a need for help, there is a Rotary member helping to find a solution.
