100 Years of Service!

The Rotary Club of Eugene (Club) was founded on March 15, 1923.  We recently celebrated our 101st anniversary.  The Club and our members have been prime movers in the community for a very long time.

With a little bit of insider knowledge of Club history you would find that in almost any direction you look, or any part of town you are in, evidence of a Club project exists.  Of course we are proud of our Club’s past accomplishments, however, by its nature Rotary attracts forward-looking people.  In the stories you can read below and photographs with them you will find example after example of Club members seizing on an idea and pushing it forward. Some of the stories chronicle past projects that are now iconic fixtures in Eugene, other project are ongoing – but all the projects are compelling.

When you become a member of the Rotary Club of Eugene you help community grow, your children thrive, your hungry neighbors eat and your homeless fellow humans find shelter and comfort.  Or, you may find yourself working on something completely unforeseen, like our reforestation and rebuilding efforts following the Holiday Farm Fire.

You can’t predict what projects we will take on as a Rotarian but worthy projects in need of a champion will materialize – they always do.  Many of the projects chronicled on this page were started because one member had an idea or heard of a need.  If you have an idea, we need you in our Club.  You can safely predict that not only will our Club projects lift up the least of us, they will lift all of us.

Read the stories on this page and the Participation page. Then join us so we can do the work, together.
